This project entailed designing an idiosyncratic and contemporary 12” record sleeve and labels for Issy Wood: parts. The design was form-centric, allowing for experimental approaches and little constraint. I explored form-making in unusual directions, using a self-driven creative process. This piece is a contemporary take on album artwork, where the form and design are as central to the piece as the music itself, creating a cohesive, expressive package that holds a 12" vinyl record.

The visual language of this design was directly inspired by the evocative lyrics of the song, specifically the lines: “I pulled my teeth out. You walked in and I was on the ground. With the pliers in my open mouth, I said, 'I love you, can you help me out?'” and “You only want the parts of me.” These lyrics influenced the raw, emotional tone of the design, driving a concept centered around vulnerability and fragmentation.
The project brief encouraged experimentation, leading me to explore form-driven approaches and non-traditional design elements that align with the mood and textures of the music. The design avoids genre-defined aesthetics, focusing instead on a unique visual interpretation of the song’s emotional depth. Typography and layout played a critical role, helping to communicate the fragmented, raw energy of the lyrics, while maintaining a cohesive and functional design suited for a 12” vinyl format.
